erin: A couple days ago I re-read my ~fiction portfolio cover statement~ from 205, and ho-ly shit. I was that crazy.

erin: Also stand by for updates. I should hopefully be good and pissed by eight. NGL--things could get ugly.

T: You better have flushed your phone down the toilet. Or been arrested. I see no other excuse for your lack of entertaining texts. Also. I finally got a new phone. It is not green. Hope you like puff paint.

erin: So here's what happened. I get there, I start chugging wine. Birthday Girl arrives not long after and I instantly think to myself I NEED TO GET OUT OF HERE RIGHT FUCKING NOW. So I drink more wine. I eat the blankets but not the pigs. Then a few of us take a field trip to Walmart, where I buy straws, a king size cookies and creme bar, and Sunset Boulevard for three dollars. You read that right. Three. We get back to the car and OH SHIT WHY ISN'T IT STARTING. So I call my dad and he says, Hold on I'll bring jumper cables.

SO AFTER ALL THIS we get back to my friend's apartment and I proceed to drink vodka and vodka and rum when we run out of vodka. And I turn out to be Laughing Happy Drunk instead of Shut The Fuck Up And Listen To Me Abuse You Drunk. Which I didn't think you would find nearly as amusing.

And so my crowning achievement on Saturday was not shouting I THINK YOU ARE BEING IRRESPONSIBLE. It was instead kicking ass at Trivial Pursuit: Pop Culture.

BUT HERE'S WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW:
do you think she'll get an oscar for dying, too????

What's up, you dirty little cunts? I am taking a break from ignoring all of you to tell you this:

You should really give Hanson a chance, everyone.

And you have no excuse not to, because I've uploaded their discography* for your listening pleasure. The RIAA dictates that you should be ashamed of yourself and whatnot.

*note: I'm not including Snowed In here because a) I don't have it and b) I don't give a shit about Christmas albums and neither should you.

Middle of Nowhere (1997)

If you ever owned any of these albums, this was most likely it. This is the album that made them famous and made them a joke, which isn't entirely fair. THEY WERE LIKE 11 AND 8 AND 6 WHEN THEY WROTE MMMBOP, OKAY? WHAT DO YOU EXPECT? Furthermore, yes they DID write all of these songs, which is more than any fucking Disney kid can say nowadays, AND they sing better than all the Disney kids, so fuck you.

sample songs: mmmbop, where's the love, a minute without you
full album: middle of nowhere (you know you want this)

This Time Around (2000)

I won't even play around. This is a really shitty album overall. A few of the tracks here are magnificent, but this is otherwise a typical sophomore slump thing. I don't think I've even listened to the entire album.

sample songs: (I really do recommend these.) if only, this time around, a song to sing
full album: this time around

Underneath (2004)

You would not believe the shit these guys had to go through to make and release Underneath. To sum up the Strong Enough to Break documentary (which I also recommend if you're curious about Hanson or about how fucked the music industry is), they got so disheartened and pissed off with their label that they said fuck this shit and left it and started their own. So this album was released independently. It probably never would have been otherwise. THAT SAID. I only really listen to the first half of this. There are a couple tracks I like on the last half, but I forget about them most of the time.

sample songs: strong enough to break, penny & me, lost without each other
full album: underneath

The Walk (2007)

Well, this is it. This motherfucker is the reason I became a Hanson fan again. This is the album that you NEED. If you listen to this one, and at no point do you say, "alright erin, I get it", then I don't wanna know you anymore. I LOVE THIS FUCKING ALBUM. I love it so much. It is probably in my top ten albums ever, and considering the company it shares up there (Houses of the Holy, Mona Bone Jakon, Blood on the Tracks, and Abbey Road to name a few), that should tell you a lot. ONE OTHER THING. On every other Hanson LP, there is at least one song I hate. Not the case with The Walk. I like or love each track here.

sample songs: great divide, georgia, blue sky
full album: the walk

Stand Up Stand Up EP (2009)

Bonus! This was just released fookin' last month or some shit. I listened to it the first time and I said to myself, meh. It's not The Walk. I can't stop listening to it now.
